Homecoming will mark marching band’s return to a Colorado high school after

The Valencia High School Marching Band will host a night of music and pageantry Thursday, November 12, at Valencia’s Paul Priesz Stadium.

“Saturday was a huge success”, said West Orange High School Associate Band Director Erin Lagatic.

The other Northern Virginia bands competing are: Tuscarora High School (Leesburg), James Madison High School (Vienna), Thomas Jefferson High School (Alexandria), Chantilly High School (Chantilly) and South Lakes High School (Reston). “It was an honor to perform for them and visit with them about our show”, said Associate Band Director Jason R. Smith.

Missouri and Illinois bands from 29 high schools and middle schools assembled at Dulaney Park for a two-hour parade down Broadway, while spectators lined the street to catch the jams.

Competition continues this weekend when the band travels to compete in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The band represented North Lamar well placing sixth amongst several state contenders from the 6A and 5A ranks continuing to solidify its reputation as one of the best bands in class 4A in the state. The composite of the three judges’ scores will be the band’s overall rating.
