Gun-related violence provokes safety concerns

And in Florida, sellers are exempt only if they meet a long list of criteria: They paid sales tax when they first bought the item that is for sale, they do not engage in sales activity more than twice a year, the property was not originally purchased for the objective of resale, they don’t sell goods at locations where they are competing with other retailers who are required to collect sales tax, and the sale is not made through an agent who is required to collect sales tax.

Anyone who answered “yes” was shot in the head.

I could relate to President Obama’s frustration and veiled anger over the killings. Students are scared for their lives when going to school.

According to “Say Anything” putting curbs on gun ownership by government laws is a failure before we begin. Three college campuses have witnessed shootings resulting in casualties in October alone. He argued that federal and state gun regulation would prevent future murders, and he compared the United States to other developed nations where tighter gun restrictions had reduced shooting statistics.

We already have about 310 million firearms in the USA, certainly more than we reasonably need for any reason.

The Second Amendment simply states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”.

“That’s just intentional homicides”.

When all else fails, many pro-gun Americans like to derail conversations about gun control by claiming the real cause of school shootings is mental illness and poor psychiatric care. The number includes deaths from accidental shootings and suicides, which are on the rise. Texas Southern University President John Rudley said, “Too many guns are accessible to students and to people in general in our community”.

Yet as a video from States United to Prevent Gun Violence points out, America’s lax gun laws are often based on a reading of the Second Amendment that makes it hard to pass restrictive gun laws, even as our weapons get much, much deadlier. The room is named after James Brady, the late press secretary for President Ronald Reagan who was shot in a 1981 assassination attempt on the president. We wait for America to come to its senses on the issue of gun violence and sit in silence dreading the blare of police sirens and ambulances rushing to the next school shooting. Australia and Great Britain, he asserted, “have been able to craft laws that nearly eliminate mass shootings”. A course of action needs to be taken soon because for all we know, we might be next.

“We collectively are answerable to those families who lose their loved one because of our inaction”. When Americans are killed in floods and hurricanes, we make communities safer.

Maya Angelou said, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them”. We have seatbelt laws because we know it saves lives. Week in and week out we are forced to learn about another coward who can’t stand to deal with the same rejection that most of us face — so they strap themselves with guns and then spray innocent people.

So rather than discuss laws to close any of the loopholes that allow criminals or the mentally ill to obtain guns such as limits to straw purchases, regulations to track gun inventories, or expanding background checks to private sales, gun advocates pretend that all gun control measures fail. “We’re living under a gun violence epidemic”. We need new, common-sense gun controls.

We’re bombarded daily with shootings on television and in films.

My anger for this stems from the lack of anger exhibited by many politicians. A few genres of music glorify violence and suicide.

In, Congress also successfully prohibited the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms from releasing tracking information about guns used in crimes to the public, creating another high barrier to research.

Sanders record on gun control has angered both anti-gun groups
