Some would argue that Casio is already the original smartwatch manufacturer thanks to its existing range of wristwear, but over forty years after releasing its first digital watch, it’s decided the time has come to get connected. “A device that won’t break easily, is simple to put on and feels good to wear”, he said, adding that it is aimed at those involved in outdoor sports and leisure.

A Casio Watch is generally known to be a classic turned to class. It was acknowledged by famous actors in critically acclaimed movies, it was worn by celebrities and now we can see the golden classic Casio watch on the wrists of all hipsters worldwide. Well before smartwatches roamed the earth, electronics manufacturer Casio produced timepieces that could double as a calculator, or a weather station, or a calendar that would remind you of appointments.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Casio is getting into the smartwatch game. It’s unclear what devices it will be compatible with, what OS it will run, or even what features it will have. The new watch will reportedly be launched in March next year in the United States and Japan.
