Bulls’ Derrick Rose Dons Protective Mask, ‘Getting Better Every Day’

Rose has been dealing with a few swelling from the injury and according to the Chicago Tribune, Rose has been fitted with a facial mask that he will wear for a stretch to protect his injury.

Rose (eye) remains uncertain to return to action before the start of the regular season, Nick Friedell of ESPN Chicago reports. The former MVP is now donning a protective mask on his face while participating in the non-contact portion of practice.

For example, Rose leads the Memphis Tigers (coached by soon-to-be hall of fame coach John Calipari) to a 38-2 season in his only year in college basketball. “My eye is getting better every day, so that’s the only thing I can worry about right now….”

Rose, in detailing how fully opening the swollen eye causes the double vision, offered a window into his confident mindset.

It was also revealed that it is likely that Rose will miss the upcoming four games the team has against Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets, Indiana Pacer, and Dallas Mavericks.

Mirotic proved last season that he can be a valuable scorer off the bench, averaging 20 points per game in March on his way to a First Team All-Rookie selection.

I seemingly feel more upset about the condemnation of Rose for his articulation and injuries than he does, imagining more of an Old Testament remedy. “Who knows, it could become an alter ego”, he joked.

He’s not exactly a saint, but Rose in an upbeat and light session with reporters after practice also demonstrated something of a Christian level of acceptance and forgiveness. “This is my first time (in a while) practicing with new coaches”, Rose said.

“We got to make sure – he hasn’t really done anything and that will be a good two or three weeks where he has total inactivity, so just to throw him back out there going 100 percent with your speed and everything, you just don’t want to take any risks, any chances, where it could be a lingering issue”, Hoiberg said. “When I first put it on, it was a little bit uncomfortable”.

“It was 24 to 9, I think, in fastbreak points in their favor and you know you just can’t do that, especially in your home building”, Hoiberg added. “But through practice I got more comfortable with it and it feels alright”. “You can’t ice it, so just have to live with it, looking like this for a little minute”.

Rose said he hasn’t had much pain since undergoing orbital bone surgery two weeks ago.

“Its reacting well, no pain since the first couple of days. So I do think it’s good for Derrick and his teammates”. “My eyes, anything else, I can deal with”.
