With the Ravens coming to town on Sunday, there’s a real question regarding whether the 49ers will have running back Carlos Hyde available for the game.

The report also revealed that Hayne was taking first snaps in the 49ers’ practice session, prompting speculations that the Australian sensation could be listed as the club’s starting running back. He did not practice Wednesday.

Hyde ranks seventh in the National Football League with 375 yards (and three touchdowns).

Reggie Bush will test his sore calf today after sitting out the last two practices.

Hyde has started all five games this year, gaining 168 in the team’s only victory, against the Vikings. Bush is unlikely to play against Baltimore, but Tomsula noted the veteran tailback avoided a serious injury. “There are other guys who can return punts, but the 49ers need a backup running back, and it’s clear that Hayne is not the man for the job”. Ellington has dealt with an array of injuries since the offseason and the receiver has played just seven offensive snaps.

San Francisco offensive coordinator Geep Chryst said he expected Hyde to play, explaining their first choice RB might be the type of player who goes through the season with light practices but still suiting up on game day. Linebacker NaVorro Bowman (routine rest), guard Alex Boone (ankle, shoulder) and outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks (bereavement) did not practice. He ended up practicing on Thursday ins limited fashion.

“I don’t think so”, Tomsula said when asked if he saw anything dirty.
