Dole recalls bagged spinach in Midwest, South and East Coast
CNN reported that the recalled products were on sale in Connecticut, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, Kentucky, New York, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. This precautionary recall notification is being issued due to an isolated instance in which a sample of Dole Spinach salad yielded a positive result for Salmonella in a random sample test conducted by the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, Laboratory Division.

Retailers are pulling the product from shelves and customers are instructed to dispose of the recalled greens.
Dole says the products in question are have a product code on the packaging that reads A27409B and A27409A, with an “enjoy by” date of October. 15 and the UPC code 7143000976.
The recall does not affect baby spinach and other salads, the company said.
Additionally, New Frontier Foods Inc. of Burlingame, Calif., is voluntarily recalling six days of production of “Ocean’s Halo Gluten Free Seaweed Chips”, which are produced at a third party manufacturer, because of an undeclared allergen – wheat. “I believe the FDA is going through the plant right now, and we expect to get back up and running soon”.
Salmonella can reportedly cause severe stomach pains, nausea and diarrhea.

A few people infected with salmonella can develop Reiter’s syndrome, a disease that can last for months or years and can lead to chronic arthritis.
