At least six people were pulled from massive piles of scaffolding that collapsed on Friday at an apartment building under construction in downtown Houston and emergency workers were scrambling to find any others, fire officials said.
A large amount of scaffolding collapsed Friday outside a building under construction in Houston, video from the scene showed.
All six workers were taken to hospitals, but their injuries weren’t believed to be life threatening, a Houston Fire Department statement said. The fire department is working with the construction company to determine how many workers may have been on site.
“We’re also concerned that perhaps pedestrians walking nearby could have been involved”, Lozano said.
The accident happened at a residential complex across the street from Minute Maid Park, home of baseball’s Houston Astros.

“I heard the crash and heard yelling and saw other workers running, I guess to rescue the workers”, said one witness. “In the mean time, we are grateful to the first responders on the scene and praying that everyone is OK”. Within 30 minutes, more than 30 units, including several heavy rescue personnel, were already on-site, according to CNN.
