Uber drivers threaten to strike over tips and fares
More money for each ride.

A few Uber drivers say they’re going participate in a nationwide strike.
As they gathered, they chanted and held signs that read, “Uber’s greed puts drivers in need”.
Among the things they’re demanding is UberX fares raised by 60 percent, a tip option to be added, the minimum fare rate to be raised to $7 and cancellation fee to also be raised to $7.
In response to the protest, an Uber spokesperson forwarded a statement from the company.
However not all drivers will participate in the protest, and according to the company, riders in the area shouldn’t be concerned.
The option, which is already live in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Austin and Boston, is said to be a significant cost-saver even though surge pricing still applies. Organizers are encouraging drivers to shut off their app through the weekend.
“I feel like this [wage] policy has stopped them from receiving credit for their work”, said Uber customer Adrian Pintor.

Many of their criticisms echoed the complaints that prompted scores of Uber Black drivers to strike last month, which resulted in the company rescinding a directive that they must take rides from the app’s cheapest platforms.
