Palestinians set fire to Jewish shrine in West Bank
“A suggestion was raised that John Kerry and I and King Abdullah (of Jordan) and others would meet”, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday.

Earlier, a spokesman for German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Mr Netanyahu would travel to Germany on Wednesday for talks with Ms Merkel on the security situation in Israel and the wider Middle East.
The unrest has seen violent protests and a wave of knife attacks by Palestinians.
Reuters television footage showed the Palestinian rolling on the ground and surrounded by Israeli troops after the attack.
“He’s going to call on me for resuming negotiations?” he indignantly asked the reporter.
Palestinians want East Jerusalem as the capital of a future independent state, together with Gaza and the West Bank. The settlements are considered illegal under worldwide law, though Israel disputes this.
“President Abbas has been committed to non-violence“.
He said Israeli security forces would “bring perpetrators to justice and restore the site”.
Prior to that incident, another Palestinian was also shot dead after he had attempted to stab paramilitary police at an entrance to Jerusalem’s walled Old City, police said.
As CNN explains, Nablus is controlled by the Palestinian Authority and the tomb is venerated by Jews.
For his part, Israel’s deputy United Nations envoy David Roet said his country would not accept any global protection force around the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex.
The resolution called for “measures to be taken to guarantee the safety and protection of the Palestinian civilians throughout the occupied territory”.
In the first two intifadas, between 1987 and 1993 and 2000 to 2005, hundreds of people were killed and many more hurt in near daily violence.
Beginning Sunday, a few 300 soldiers will reinforce police, stretched thin by the unrest. Palestinians fear that these rules will change, and resent the Israeli government in general because they believe it is occupying their land. The attackers have struck in Jerusalem and central and northern Israel, and in the occupied West Bank.

The widespread perception among Palestinians that Al-Aqsa is under threat from Israel has fomented tensions and violence. The violence has also spread to the border with Gaza. It was fuelled by rumours among Palestinians that Israel was attempting to alter a long-standing religious arrangement governing the site.
