“I’m proud of her”, Chastain said. “Then they go, ‘Yes, The Village was such a great movie, ‘” Chastain said.

In an essay for Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter, the actress addressed the huge pay gap between she and her male American Hustle co-stars that was made public during the infamous Sony hacks.

Jennifer admitted that she was more angry with herself than her male co-stars and feels she should have asked for more money. ‘It’s not right. It’s been happening for years and years and years.

“I run a business”, she said in a February interview.

Other Hollywood stars have since publicly backed Lawrence for speaking out.

She also said she appreciated a few men were starting to join the conversation about the need for more diversity and more equality in American cinema. I don’t know what’s happening.

“We’re supposed to be a mirror that’s held up to society and tells the story of what’s happening around us”, she said. “I think the film industry is an incredible group of people… and so the more that we all discuss it as a community, that’s what I think is going to help”.

“I had this moment of do I tell them that they’re wrong and it’s not me, or do I pretend I’m Bryce”.

Studies show that male actors have far more opportunities than females. “Crimson Peak” is a rare project that features meaty roles for women. “So I pretended I was Bryce”, Chastain said.
