Polk was meeting someone on Newstead about a black Mustang posted for sale on Craigslist, but since he left to meet the seller, no one had heard from him.

Robert Polk’s relatives are not talking to reporters Friday as they take time to mourn the loss of a promising young man. His aunt told us he had dreamed of being a firefighter and an emergency medical technician. It marks the 159th homicide in the city this year, matching the number for all of 2014.

Workers who discovered the body said it appeared to have been hidden under sheets of drywall for some time. The group of employees had been working at a property in the Baden neighborhood with St. Louis for the past two days when they noticed a strong odor, but they thought it was a dead animal.

A reward is being offered tonight to find the killer of a man whose body was found in an abandoned building under sheets of drywall. “It looks like he had been dragged there because there was a blood trail”, he said. He added that he saw seven or eight shell casings in a nearby street. “I couldn’t believe it. It was more hurtful than anything, seeing someone’s lifeless body lying there”.
