A group of migrants trying to catch a ride on a truck bound for the United Kingdom got a big surprise when they realized the truck was occupied by a polar bear.
It turned out to be a short-lived experience, however, as ten minutes later the French police arrived on the scene and took the men out of the truck.
‘There was a slight hiccup at Calais.
‘They must have had the surprise of their lives.
And it’s a good thing Nissan was secured as he could have done a few damage had he not been.
Nissan the polar bear was being transported to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in England from Russian Federation on October. 13.
In incredible footage one terrified migrant is seen to take one look at the one year old bear called Nissan before he runs away.
Asked what the danger would have been if Nissan had not been in his cage, he said: “I think a lot of people in Calais would have been in trouble if he hadn’t been in his crate”.
Nissan has now arrived at the wildlife park and is living with two other bears, named Victor and Pixel, in the Project Polar reserve. He was on his way from the Moscow Zoo to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in England. He has been moved to the United Kingdom as part of the European breeding programme. More than perhaps anywhere else on Europe’s migrant trail, the mood here is increasingly defiant, with asylum seekers becoming ever bolder in their attempts to challenge security forces head-on and break through the tightening cordon that prevents them from reaching Britain.
The staff couldn’t believe it. Fortunately Nissan was safely contained in his travel crate.
