Guillermo del Toro: Silent Hills’ cancellation “makes no sense at all”
Oh hey, it’s that time again where we get to learn why Silent Hills would have been the ideal best game ever if it had not been cancelled.

Well, his exact words were that it “makes no fucking sense at all”, but I didn’t want to put that in the first line. Gamers were left absolutely heartbroken that Konami would pull the plug on something as grand and as highly anticipated as Silent Hills.
Talking about his work on the project, del Toro describes the process as a “great experience” that generated “hundreds upon hundreds of designs”.
“The thing with Kojima and Silent Hills is that I thought we would do a really remarkable game and really go for the jugular”, he said. It was as much a showcase for the Fox Engine being used for the thematic horror genre as it was a depiction of what Silent Hills would be like under the guidance of Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro.
Konami’s inexplicable cancellation of the project was announced in April 2015, after which Konami dissolved Kojima Productions with unusual swiftness.
With two canceled games now under his belt, del Toro recently stated that he’s done with video game development.

Meanwhile, Crimson Peak director and once-upon-a-game Silent Hills contributor Guillermo del Toro continues to feed the insatiable fan desire for more morsels of what could’ve been. Makes no fucking sense whatsoever.

Without a doubt, the combination Kojima and del Toro’s brilliance would have borne one of the most unique entries for the horror genre in years, especially considering that Japanese horror manga legend Junji Ito was also involved with the game.
