Carrie Underwood drops new single `Renegrade Runaway`
The romantic ballad, written by Carrie, Zach Crowell and Ashley Gorle, contrasts love in a crowded city with two lovers sharing a quiet, intimate outdoor moment alone.

In typical Underwood fashion, the single is a catchy, powerful song with killer lyrics and it comes just one week after she dropped her single ‘Heartbeat, ‘ which is reportedly inspired by her husband, Mike Fisher. Driven by a steady drum beat, which at points sounds like the rumbling of horse hooves, the song describes a renegade runaway who “looks like an angel”, but is actually a “devil in a satin dress,” who will break your heart and leave you wanting.
She told PEOPLE magazine: “Your marriage does change a lot when you have a baby”.
Although there’s no full-blown music video for “Renegade Runaway” (yet) the audio version shows her upcoming record (in vinyl form) being put onto a record player where it spins for the rest of the song. “I feel like we occupy those elements, but it’s very cool and very now and very fresh”.
Where Underwood warned a girl to stay away from an unfaithful boy in “Cowboy Casanova” back in 2009, this time she’s convincing a young man to stay away from an outlaw who will take everything from him alongside banjo accompaniment and powerhouse vocals that she is well known and loved for.

Lyrically, “Renegade Runaway” can be read as Underwood’s defense of herself in light of those concerns about motherhood, in which she finds a way to celebrate the apparent contradiction of being both a doting mother and a rebellious country star.
