Wendy Tsao Transforms Bratz Dolls Into Real-Life Role Models

Vancouver-based artist Wendy Tsao has been doing a few commendable work, as she takes off make up from Bratz dolls to turn them into replicas of extraordinary women who are true inspiration to real women. This inspired her and that’s how she got the idea to recreate the look of dolls for her project the Mighty Dolls. Malala Yousafzai – A Pakistani activist and youngest Nobel Prize laureate.

But, she made a decision to take a different spin on it. Her dolls are of inspiring women as young children.

Tsao also told The Daily Mail that she hoped that children could relate to dolls that are made to look like young versions of the women who inspired them. “And they should be role models instead of, or at least alongside, the products of Disney and Hollywood”.

All girls have played with dolls in their developing years and this inevitably leaves an impact on the child’s mind. Think Malala Yousafzai, J.K. Rowling, Jane Goodall and Waris Dirie.

Though she admits that these women are adults who children might not relate to in an instant, “we need to show children that these remarkable women were once children too”, she adds. She will post more information about the auction on her website. “You know how we “outgrow” our toys – Bratz doll or Disney princess doll?” It’s hard to imagine feeling the same the about Malala [Yousafzai].

Taking inspiration from Sonja Singh of Tree Change Dolls, Wendy used simple YouTube tutorials to learn how to repaint the dolls, and has confirmed she will be selling the dolls on Ebay, and the best thing? “Can you outgrow Malala?”
