Bayern Munich beat Werder Bremen for record ninth straight win

Mueller stole in front of Alejandro Galvez to control a Thiago Alcantara cross at the near post and stab past Felix Wiedwald for the only goal of the game, his ninth of the season, at the Weserstadion as Bayern made more Bundesliga history.

“We won a very hard game”, said Bayern coach Pep Guardiola, whose team are chasing a record fourth consecutive Bundesliga title.

The German champions will face Arsenal at the Emirates on Tuesday night in the Champions League, with Arsene Wenger’s men face the tricky task of claiming their first points of this year’s competition.

Bet365 make Bremen whopping 16/1 outsiders while Munich are 2/11 odds-on favourites.

“It wasn’t easy to find the necessary spaces. But I want to congratulate my team as this win means a lot to me”.

Bayern Munich remains the measure of all things in the Bundesliga, as the front-runners maintained their flawless starting record after reaping the ninth victory in as many games. But they still comfortably dominated Werder, who have now lost five consecutive Bundesliga matches.

Bayern were missing half a dozen players, including the injured wingers Franck Ribéry, Arjen Robben and Kingsley Coman, with Guardiola also resting another winger, Douglas Costa.

It was all Bayern but Bremen squandered the golden chance to level the score as Anthony Ujah failed to overcome Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer from promising position.

Max Meyer scored a stoppage-time goal to give Schalke 04 a last-gasp 2-1 victory over 10-man Hertha Berlin and keep them firmly in third place on 19 points, one behind Dortmund.

Borussia Moenchengladbach routed Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 away in the late game to continue its resurgence under interim coach Andre Schubert.
