“These are the most stunning iMacs we’ve ever made”, said Apple’s Vice President for Worldwide Marketing, Philip Schiller.

However, the new features on the new Apple Magic Keyboard may not be your cup of tea, and there are actually many reasons why you may not want to upgrade to the new keyboard. The Retina displays are not just the main focus of this new breed of iMacs.

The 21.5-inch iMac is available at select Apple Authorised Resellers in three variants starting at Rs 91,900 and Rs 107,900 and with a Retina 4K display starting at Rs 123,900. Last year’s 21.5-inch iMac at least let you upgrade RAM and your hard drive. Apple unveiled the new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 tablets and the iMac with 5K Retina display. The human eye and high-end cameras can see a wider range of colors than most LCD screens can reproduce.

“The 21.5” iMac with Retina display starts at $1499 for the base version.

Apple updated its smaller iMac with a faster processor, faster RAM, improved graphics, and a new 4K display. The aforementioned Thunderbolt 2 ports can deliver up to 20Gbps worth of data.

The new models in the lineup will also come with Apple’s Fusion Drive, a hybrid flash and hard disk storage drive created to offer the capacity of a traditional drive with the speed of solid state memory. Fusion Drive is also available with 2TB and 3TB configurations with 128GB of fast flash for more demanding workloads.

In contrast, Apple is touting its new Magic Keyboard as an upgrade that’s smaller than its predecessor, taking up 13 percent less space on the desk and sporting a smaller profile. Magic Keyboard is available for US$99. The new Magic Mouse 2 is lighter, sturdier and features an optimized foot design for a smoother glide. The new Magic Trackpad is however bought separately. The Magic Keyboard costs $99 and Magic Mouse 2 is at but both come with every new iMac. Which isn’t a big surprise given the fact that the GPU is integrated on the processor in the 21in models and separate in the 27in iMacs.

But the features most likely to draw the attention of Mac fans are the new displays Apple is introducing. But Apple originally targeted professionals by charging a $700 premium for iMacs with these screens. AAPL has a 1-year high of $134.54 and a 1-year low of $92.

The new Mac comes with 8GB RAM and is configurable to 16GB when you purchase it from Apple (you can’t update it later as the RAM is soldered on). Prices vary: $1,799, $1,999 and $2,299. Out of 37 analysts who cover the stock, 27 suggest a Buy rating, 9 suggest a Hold and one recommends to Sell the stock.

The mass production issues are largely linked to Apple's main iMac panel supplier LG Display
