Tracy Morgan Gets the Royal Treatment at NBC Studios
Live from New York, it’s the return of Tracy Morgan! Apart from the fact that anyone who’s been following Morgan’s recovery from that horrific limo crash knows he’s doing pretty well considering, Morgan’s attempt at a fake out doesn’t engender much anxiety, since, as the former SNL star feelingly tells-and then quickly shows-he’s home.

Funnyman Tracy Morgan has returned to “Saturday Night Live” a year after he suffered near-fatal injuries in a deadly high-speed vehicle accident.
Morgan addressed his return in the opening minutes of the monologue as expected, clearly having fun with his opportunity to “come back home”. This will be his first time hosting the show since his devastating vehicle accident previous year. It was a triumphant return that all got kicked off by one of the most powerful and effective opening monologues we’ve ever seen. The world nearly lost someone special and talented, and while Morgan will never be the same person he was before the accident, he is back in a big way. I don’t even have a back pack. If you didn’t see it on the news, I was in a terrible auto crash a year ago. “Does he have 100 percent mental capacity?’ But the truth is I never did”, the 46-year-old star said as he opened the show. Look, there are a few people who don’t like or don’t get Tracy Morgan’s appeal. He added, “I’m so lucky I have my own comedy family”.
In the segment, he was reunited with his 30 Rock co-stars Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jack McBrayer and Jane Krakowski. It’s then revealed the spaceman left behind on the planet was none other than Astronaut Jones. But a surprise appearance by Larry David as Bernie Sanders – many observers compared the curmudgeonly comedian and the Vermont senator during the real-life debate – was a welcome (and accurate) surprise.

Meanwhile, the best, or at least most poignant, moment was saved for last: “Lorne Michaels, I love you, like I love my daddy…”
