Jurgen Klopp reacts to his first game as Liverpool manager

Goals rained in for Manchester City and Manchester United but Juergen Klopp’s first game in charge of Liverpool was solid rather than spectacular with his new side drawing 0-0 at Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday.

We have the starting team for Tottenham v Liverpool FC, its the first game for Jurgen Klopp who will be looking for a positive result.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp gives instructions to his team during the Barclays Premier League match at White Hart Lane, London. “From a very good corner we hit the post and there were a few other situations where we could have been a little bit better, but for today it’s ok”, Klopp said, while also explaining that Sturridge could return for Liverpool’s game against Rubin Kazan in the Europa League on Thursday.

“We need to improve but for today, after three days, it finished nil-nil”.

Divock Origi, with only 17 minutes of Premier League football to his name, started in place of Sturridge and came closest to winning the game for the visitors – who had goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to thank for keeping a clean sheet.

Much to Liverpool’s dismay, pair Joe Gomez and Danny Ings, both suffering from anterior cruciate ligament injuries, will be sidelined, and could possibly be out for the rest of the season. It could be hard, but I’m really satisfied.

It’s sad to see a manager move on like Brendan has had to, but that’s the nature of the beast we work in.

When Jürgen Klopp clicked his fingers, it was only to illustrate that no one should expect Liverpool’s problems to disappear as if by magic now that he is their manager.

“Now we have to train as often and as long as possible and not think about expectations from outside”. We are still young and it was a very good game in our growing up.

Origi managed two shots against Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino said before the match: “We have watched a lot of games from Dortmund and we have a clear idea of how [Klopp] can play. Better defending is possible, we will be able to play better football, that changes everything”.
