Grella scores fastest goal in MLS history
With their win against Philadelphia on Sunday, the Red Bulls clinched the Eastern Conference title.

A classic miscued pass from the tippy-tappy gamer that we have no patience for is punished as the former Leeds United player nicks in and drives straight for goals.
For the majority of their stretch run towards the playoffs, it seemed no one within the New York Red Bulls locker room wanted to talk about hardware.
The previous fastest goal came from Tim Cahill, when he scored eight seconds in to lead the Red Bulls over the Huston Dynamo, 3-0, on October 20, 2013. Jesse Marsch’s team is looking to lock up the top spot in the Eastern Conference, and a win over the Union (9-16-7) would accomplish that.
Wright-Phillips’ team-leading 15th goal came when Damien Perrinelle headed a Sacha Kljestan corner kick to the forward alone on the far side of the box that he easily put in.
In fact, they struck right off the opening kickoff as Grella motored down the left wing, beat two defenders and drilled a shot to the near post past goalkeeper Andre Blake seven seconds after the first whistle, for the quickest goal in MLS history. Bradley Wright-Phillips and Kemar Lawrence also tallied for the Red Bulls, while Sebastian Le Toux scored a consolation marker for the Union.
“That’s when you really see what character comes out, and I thought the response in the first half was unbelievable”.

Had the Red Bulls beaten Toronto FC Wednesday, they would have celebrated winning the Supporters Shield Sunday. They always sit deep and make it tough on us. Seconds later, Le Toux put Philly on the board, taking Tranquillo Barnetta’s feed and racing down the right flank before beating Luis Robles to cut the deficit to 4-1.
