NVIDIA Will Soon Require GeForce Experience Registration To Get Game
The new version, now in beta, enables gamers to broadcast in 1080p at 60fps, to live stream to YouTube, or to use the GameStream feature to stream from PC to a larger screen using Nvidia’s Shield.

The update adds the ability to broadcast your games to both Twitch and YouTube Gaming at a buttery-smooth 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution.
If there’s one single thing that I dislike about playing games on PC, it’s the myriad logins to the plethora of services I have to remember. This new update is the flawless example of how NVIDIA stands out from the competition and end users benefit from “all NVIDIA” entertainment setup. As one might expect, NVIDIA is not stopping there, and in a briefing to the press this week, NVIDIA is announcing a few of their feature development plans for GeForce Experience over the next couple of months. It is yet to see what NVIDIA has hidden under its sleeves. So in short – you’ll be able to install Game Ready drivers only via GeForce Experience – and even then only after you’ve registered a verified email address with Nvidia.
The move seems created to push adoption of GeForce Experience. If you’re enthusiastically locked into Nvidia’s ecosystem, this is all exciting stuff. Virtually every major PC game release in the past two years has been accompanied by a day one, WHQL-certified Game Ready driver from Nvidia, created to make the latest and greatest games run wonderfully on GeForce graphics cards.
According to NVIDIA, GeForce Experience has had over 300-million downloads since it was first released back in May of 2013.
These features will be coming to users this week using GeForce Experience Beta – you should be able to access these features starting this afternoon. GeForce Experience will be used to distribute the company’s regular “point release” driver updates that the company frequently releases and typically contain bug fixes and performance improvements for the gamers – in other words, the drivers most gamers will want to be on.
In addition to today’s updates, Nvidia tells us it has a series of Game Ready drivers in the works to support the big game releases expected during the upcoming holiday season. You’ll also be required to have a validated email address to get the downloads for beta drivers – though NVIDIA admitted to me you would be able to opt-out of the mailing list any time after signing up.

Today’s GeForce 358.50 driver also adds support for the OpenGL 2015 ARB extensions and for OpenGL ES 3.2, and it includes new capabilities for use with the GameWorks VR SDK. And ultimately with NVIDIA’s 90% distribution figure, it would appear that web downloads were already a quickly dying trend anyhow.
