The recent statements by a few of its leaders, including Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar, over beef issue has irked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership, which is facing intense criticism over controversial remarks made by the party leaders following the Dadri lynching episode.

The move came a day after one of BJP’s oldest allies Shiromani Akali Dal termed the lynching of a Muslim man in Dadri in over beef eating rumours a “shame” for the country and said what happened after that was “damaging the Prime Minister more than anybody else”.
Shah reportedly cautioned Sangget Som and Sakshi Maharaj against making any such remarks that damage the party’s reputation.
Referring to on-going Assembly elections in Bihar, another Congress spokesperson Sandeep Dikshit said the meeting implied that BJP is “nervous” looking for excuses in view of its defeat in the polls in the state at the hands of the grand alliance of JD(U)-RJD and Congress. So, after 18 months Amit Shah has found time to chastise MPs and ministers. He told BJP chief Amit Shah to warn all of these leaders in person.

Saying Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “upset”, BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday pulled up five party leaders whose controversial remarks on beef have embarrassed it, informed sources said.
