Patriots Alert: Patriots place Tarell Brown on injured reserve
Losing Brown increases the Patriots’ need for another cornerback.

Brown’s absence ended the Patriots’ streak of five consecutive practices with flawless attendance, as Nate Solder’s absence yesterday didn’t count because he was placed on injured reserve.
Brown, the former Raiders and 49ers corner signed in the offseason, had already been ruled out of the game Sunday against the Colts after missing practices this week. Brown broke his foot last season, in Week 15, and appeared to reinjure it sometime after the Buffalo game. He also needed extra maintenance in August, and it bothered him again in Week 3, when he dressed for the game against the Jaguars but was the only player who didn’t take the field.
Now, Brown will have to miss the entire season.
“I didn’t want to come into a situation where I couldn’t really show my full potential”, Brown said. Melvin was claimed off waivers this week from the Ravens and has only practiced twice. He also provided veteran leadership at a very young position on the team.

New England announced today that offensive lineman Cameron Fleming has been signed to the 53-player roster from the practice squad. Fleming, 23, originally joined the Patriots as a fourth-round draft pick (140th overall) in 2014 out of Stanford.
