In Hebron, in the West Bank, Israeli authorities said a Palestinian teen approached an Israeli police officer near the Cave of the Patriarchs, a place holy to Muslims and Jews, and pulled out a knife.
“The photos and videos taken over the past three weeks are clearly showing how Israelis executed the Palestinians in cold blood, and this is a clear evidence for the humiliation that the Palestinian wounded are facing”, Erekat said, adding the global community should condemn these measures.
Israeli media showed footage of a blood-streaked floor and rows of ambulances outside the bus station. Israelis have been killed in random attacks in the street or on buses.
The peace protest on Saturday night came after a day in which four Palestinians were killed during what are believed to be attempted stabbing attacks.
A fourth was at a checkpoint in a Jewish settlement neighborhood of Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem, and a fifth at another checkpoint.
The current wave of Israeli-Palestinian unrest began last month with clashes at Jerusalem’s most sensitive holy site and quickly spread across Israel and into the West Bank and Gaza.
And a border guard killed a 24-year-old Palestinian who tried to knife him at a checkpoint between Jerusalem and the West Bank, police said.
The IDF said Palestinian attackers have wielded knifes against Israeli civilians and authorities, and Israeli security forces have turned their guns on them.
Palestinians said they felt the roadblocks were intended as collective punishment and would be ineffective in deterring attackers.
The violence has mostly erupted in Jerusalem and the West Bank but also on the Gaza-Israel border.
The Palestinian attacker in the east Jerusalem section of Armon Hanatziv was killed in the morning by an armed Israeli civilian he had stabbed, the police said in a text message. “Israel is an occupier in Jerusalem”.
The incident saw a group of about 30 religious students from a school in Jerusalem travel to Joseph’s Tomb in the northern West Bank city of Nablus despite not having the required authorisation from Israel’s military.
Israel accuses the Palestinians of inciting to violence through the false claims. Jews are allowed to visit but not pray there to avoid provoking tensions, and Netanyahu has said repeatedly he has no intention of changing the rules.
Worse still, from a Palestinian perspective, they have been walled-off from Israel and watched impotently as their own government has “collaborated” (as the critics put it) with Israel on security matters.
“And I don’t think we can wait for all the issues that exist between Israelis and Palestinians to be settled” to curb the violence, the president declared. In consultation with Palestinian security forces, the military extracted the worshippers.
Calling Israeli-Arab leaders “weak”, and doubting the sincerity of their indignation over the Temple Mount, Aharish ended by blasting them for their part in the violence.

France has launched a diplomatic initiative to calm further escalation at the Al-Aqsa compound, a site holy to both Muslims and Jews who know it as the Temple Mount.
