“I don’t know what’s happened over there; something’s happened and I’m not sure of the details”.
Domestic violence is never acceptable.
Lodge was staying with friends at a swanky Upper West Side hotel, situated in a family-friendly area of Manhattan not known for its party scene. “I’m sorry I can’t tell you any more”.
It was about 10pm that the women were frantically buzzing apartments on West End Avenue to be let in so they could escape Lodge.
Police allege Lodge then locked the man in the corridor while proceeding to trash the apartment with the man’s wife and son trapped inside.
He also allegedly damaged the apartment.
Lodge was charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, assault and menacing.
NYPD officer Arlene Muniz has since confirmed that the troubled 20-year-old faces up to four years in prison. “You get a maximum for whatever the charge is for that felony”.
The criminal mischief charge relates to intentionally damaging someone’s property.
Accused NRL player… former Wests Tigers star Matthew Lodge.
Matthew Lodge, 20, a forward for the Sydney-based Wests Tigers, made the remarks as he chased the two German tourists into the building on West End Ave.at 4 a.m. Friday, cops said.
“This type of behaviour does not fit with the culture we are building at the club, nor is it to the behavioural standards that we accept”.
The Tigers will continue to offer support and counselling to Lodge, whose rookie career has been plagued by off-field incidents.
The matter was last mentioned in Blacktown Local Court on October 14 – two days before his New York arrest.
Additionally, he was fined $10,000 after being involved in an altercation outside a Kings Cross club in January.
Last year, he was sanctioned by the NRL for writing “c***” on his wrist strapping while playing for NSW in their under-20s State of Origin fixture.
