The Palestinian terrorist who opened fire on passengers at the central bus station in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba Sunday evening was identified as 21 year-old Bedouin man Mohaned al-Okhbi, an Israeli citizen from the southern Bedouin town of Hura. He did not have a criminal record. According to the Shin Bet, Alukabi’s mother was originally from the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Police have confirmed members of Alukabi’s family have been arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting.

Al-Okbi entered the bus station on Sunday night armed with a handgun and a knife.

An Eritrean migrant who was mistaken for a second assailant was shot and seriously wounded during the attack.

The man died later that night in hospital.

A video shot by a bystander afterwards shows an angry mob surrounding Mr Zarhum, swearing at him and kicking him in the head. An Israeli guy was killed in the assault and six other people, in addition to four cops officers, were wounded to varying degrees, cops said. Yoram HaLevy defended police, saying they “responded very well”, despite admitting they mistakenly believed the Eritrean man was an attacker and firing at him. Israeli cops asserted the attacker shot and stabbed people in the bus terminal in Beersheba just after 7:30 p.m., reportedly the Times of Israel.
