Indiana University student charged for attacking Muslim woman, yelling ‘white

According to WTTV, the incident at Sofra Café in downtown Bloomington began when Bickford started shouting ethnic slurs at the woman, who was not named in initial reports.

Bloomington Police arrested an Indiana University student on several charges after he allegedly attacked a Muslim woman.

Prior to the assault, police say Bickford was reportedly yelling derogatory and inflammatory statements about African-Americans and police.

“The man, later identified as Triceten Bickford, 19, allegedly shouted “white power” and “kill them all”.

WTTV-TV reported that, according to police, Bickford grabbed the unidentified woman by her neck and slammed her head against the table.

When police arrived on scene, they discovered Bickford being restrained by a witness and the victim’s husband. He also tried to remove her headscarf. While they were waiting, Bickford spit into the men’s faces and continued making threats. After arriving at the Monroe County Jail, Bickford bit an officer in the lower leg. His blood-alcohol level was 0.195.

Bickford faces the following charges: One count of intimidation, one count of public intoxication, two counts of misdemeanor battery, one count of felony-level battery, one count minor consumption of alcohol and one count strangulation.

Bickford is an IU sophomore, IU spokesperson Mark Land said.
