Michelle Obama Recruits TV, Digital Heavyweights For ‘Better Make Room’ Campaign

Michelle Obama has a new plan to emphasize the importance of education after high school, and she’s pulled in a few big digital media companies to help spread the word. The campaign aims to convince youths between the ages of 14 and 19 to pursue education beyond high school, whether college or vocational training.

The first lady was announcing the new phase of her Reach Higher initiative at a White House event on Monday.

The campaign will partner with major networks and social media platforms with the goal of engaging students and reaching them where they are.

The first lady are scheduled to hold a private rally with children participating in the LeBron James Family Foundation programs that encourage students to succeed in school.

Other partners are Seventeen magazine. “Because in the end, if we really want to solve issues like mass incarceration, poverty, racial profiling, voting rights, and the kinds of challenges that shocked so many of us over the past year, then we simply can not afford to lose out on the potential of even one young person”, Michelle said in February, according to Reach Higher’s website.

Better Make Room will tell the stories of students and make sure they understand the steps to gain postsecondary education, including taking the SAT and ACT, visiting a college campus, filling out federal financial aid forms and completing at least four college applications.
