New York Jets fly high in win against Washington Redskins

Washington once again laid an egg in the third quarter, but this time the opposing team took full control of the steering wheel and never let off the gas. Each lost a fumble in the first half.

“He’s not the only quarterback in history that’s made a poor decision or a poor throw…He’s a young QB”.

Things looked bad early. Several plays later, the Redskins scored a touchdown with the welcomed field position. And Griffin, who did at least dress this week, is the third-stringer. We rely on our good players a lot.

The Redskins avoided going three-and-out with a nice catch-and-run to now-starting tight end Derek Carrier. After overthrowing an open Garcon, Cousins under threw Chris Thompson on a wheel route that should have been a touchdown instead of an incompletion that forced a punt. Eight of the plays were runs, including six by Chris Ivory, who capped the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. The Redskins then tied the game on a 54 yard field goal by kicker Dustin Hopkins to make it 10-10. Fortunately, the defense started playing really well.

With just over:40 remaining in the first half, Fitzpatrick threw an interception to Breeland on a pass intended for Marshall down the right sideline that was returned to midfield. The Redskins need better play from both of those players.

Untouched, he got up and sprinted another 28 yards, providing momentum for the offense that was able to capitalize with three points and bring a lead into the half. Two plays later, Breeland made another spectacular play. Marshall finished with 111 receiving yards. Outside of the loss to Philadelphia, the offense has been able to generate touchdown drives at the most crucial points of games. Two weeks after Ivory’s career-high 166 rushing yards in London, he set a career-high with 195 total yards to highlight the Jets’ 474-yard offensive output. After another Ivory first down in which Keenan Robinson was blocked by quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, the defense put their foot down. Instead of forcing a throw with Revis looming, just throw it out of bounds. Cousins has no INTs in Washington’s two wins.

Marshall was responsible for a fumble and an interception by Breeland when a pass tipped out of his hands. Just like that the game seemed completely out of reach at 27-13 Jets. By turning the ball over at that point, Cousins triggered a 17-0 third quarter for the Jets, and it became a rout. Blaine Gabbert has thrown fewer interceptions on more pass attempts than Cousins.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.-Are the Jets boring? But he isn’t the one who decides on playtime for the backs. “[Marshall] kind of got careless with the ball and I just went and took it away from him”.

They certainly sharpened up in the second half, improving to 4-1 for the first time since 2010. All four of Washington’s losses this year have featured two interceptions from Gruden’s quarterback of choice.

New York got the ball back when Marcus Gilchrist picked off Cousins’ deep pass for Jamison Crowder.

Don’t be fooled by the Redskins almost pulling off an upset in Atlanta last week: Washington should struggle to cover the spread versus the Jets today at 1:00PM ET.

His counterpart, Ryan Fitzpatrick, has three multi-touchdown games during four contests this season. In my opinion, the Redskins inexcusably chose to run the ball and they ended up turning the ball over on downs after being unable to beat cover zero on fourth down.
