War for the Planet of the Apes starts filming

“Reeves tweeted the image on Saturday (October 17) accompanied by the caption: “#It has begun”. There are many reasons that this is a flawless first look at production on the third chapter of the rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise – one of the most notable being that it’s simply a lovely shot from a very talented filmmaker.

Planet of the Apes has quite an iconic moment on the beach at the end of the original movie, involving one of America’s most recognizable landmarks, and one of the most famous lines in cinema history.

“The idea would never be to remake the ’68 film”, Reeves said in an interview with Joblo back in 2014.

The picture is similar to the original 1980’s Apes film.

Reeves, incidentally, has clarified that the name of the new film is War For The Planet Of The Apes, not War Of The Planet Of The Apes (as we had been reporting so far).

War For the Planet of the Apes will hit theaters on July 14, 2017.

Andy Serkis, who plays Caeser, stated, “I know that part of the desire for Matt [Reeves] to do this next movie is about continuing the enjoyment of seeing these apes evolve”. Reeves took over the helm for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes – which was one of the best movies to hit the big screen in 2014.

Chavarria’s character details are still unknown.

Mark Bomback wrote the script for the film, which of course is based on the work of novelist Pierre Boulle.
