Osinbajo is expected to visit the Internally Displaced Persons’ camp at Dalori, as well as the University of Maiduguri Teaching hospital, where he will meet victims of the Boko Haram attacks.
The Vice President reportedly stated that the concern of the Federal Government is to see that all the displaced persons return home safely and as well get special care from the government which will make up for the destruction of their properties and other infrastructures.
Accompanied by the Adamawa state governor, Bindow Jubrilla and other dignitaries, Osinbajo visited some of the wounded soldiers and other victims being treated at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.
He also commented on the high level of unemployment and poverty in the state saying the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), was specifically concerned with the problems even as he reiterated the Presidents’ commitment in alleviating poverty.
The blasts injured two people and happened at about 11.30 a.m. (1030 GMT) near the gates of a hospital where suicide bombers killed three people and injured 16 last Saturday, a military source and a witness told Reuters.
“He asks me to say to you that there is hope, great hope”.
“This is an overwhelming task he has rendered; a tremendous service, not just for his people but for the entire populace of this country”.
Osinbajo moved to Yola upon completion of his programme in Maiduguri.
