“Goosebumps” Narrowly Bests “The Martian” at Box Office; “Bridge of Spies”
While the film is rich and visually stunning. with stars Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska, many hardcore horror movie fans found del Toro’s film to be “overindulgent, lavish and even a bit old-fashioned”. If Sony&s James Bond film will be released in early November, it said Spectra taken into account also happy to be finished in 2015.

Opening gross for Sony Pictures’ “Goosebumps” just barely outranked “The Martian” with a best earnings of $23.6 million.
The box office suffered a 20-car pile-up this weekend as basically every movie with artistic ambitions or aspirations higher than just “Watch out, dinosaurs!” attempted to merge into the traffic of prestige season at once.
“Goosebumps” is the new king of North American box office after knocking off “The Martian” from the top slot.
Hollis said older audiences, who normally don’t rush to theaters on opening weekend, were likely more drawn to the subject matter and “period nature of the film”. Those hopes were proven overly optimistic though, as the strength of Goosebumps left little room for del Toro’s film which had a slightly lower critical regard at 68% and lower word of mouth, with a B- CinemaScore. Domestic box office sales also fell short of expectations raking in $18M-$20M this weekend as well as in the overseas market. The playful picture pulled in $23.5 million from 3,501 locations. Pan has struggled in the USA and internationally and is still a few way from making back its hefty $150 million budget. So yes, while more cinephiles could have gone to see the film theatrically this weekend, Netflix probably isn’t anxious.
The Halloween-timing didn’t necessarily help “Crimson Peak”, though.
Bridge of Spies, the other film that released this weekend stands in the third position with $15.4 million bucks in its pockets.
The animated hit continues to play well in Germany and Austria where it maintained the number one spot over school holidays despite newcomer Hotel Transylvania 2. An amount that sets a second overtaking potential by the $137.4 million grossed by seventeenth ranking “Hotel Transylvania 2″. “Pan” grossed $5.8 million in its dueling bid that only reached 6th place. Domestically it should finish with around $25 million to $30 million.
Speaking of, the limited release field was extremely busy this weekend as well.
“Crimson Peak”, another horror movie making its debut, fared less well. Crimson Peak sometimes feels like the film equivalent of that couple living in an approximation of the Victorian era – a reenactment rather than something that stands on its own, all painstaking details with none of the animation needed to provide a reason for the re-creation. That isn’t to say it had many good reviews; as such, only four are on RT but they’re all positive.

Next weekend features the release of several Halloween-themed projects, including the franchise-ending horror sequel Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Vin Diesel’s supernatural fantasy film The Last Witch Hunter. Where obtainable, the newest worldwide numbers for Friday by way of Sunday are additionally included.
