CBS News reported that Snapchat has dethroned past power stealers Spotify and Facebook. Facebook is number one on worst performance when it comes to running in the background, while Snapchat takes the same spot when it is being used. But since it uses your WiFi, camera, mobile data, and Global Positioning System functionality sometimes at the same time, then it’s no surprise that it is the #1 smartphone killer, joining the likes of Spotify, Amazon Shopping, Netflix, Amazon Kindle, etc. You’ll see several Amazon Shopping sites there, so not only do they drain your wallet, but your smartphone as well. “This explains hgh battery life and traffic consumption”, AVG’s performance expert Sandro Villinger explained in his blog post. He also detailed that Google’s Chrome web browser is the second highest storage consuming app and the second worst overall. Big name apps tend to use a lot of resources. The Pages Manager in particular is said to store a lot of local content, which makes it a beast in consuming data and eating up battery. The Weather Channel and Words With Friends were docked for starting up without user input, despite no discernible reason these apps need to launch on startup and run in the background. Applications should originally improve and not to downplay your smartphone experience.
