Harper uses patriotic themed bat, homers to help Nats win
The Washington Nationals placed right-handed pitcher Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain on Sunday and recalled Syracuse Chiefs starter Taylor Jordan.

It is unknown how much time Strasburg will miss, but the Nationals have a bevy of rotation options that can fill the void, and with Max Scherzer dominating the opposition, Strasburg is no longer the team’s ace.
While the blue and stars dominates the look, there is a strip of red and white to represent the rest of the flag as well.
He winced and grabbed in the area of his left side after making an attempt at Buster Posey’s groundball out. “Don’t really have an explanation”.
“It’s pretty tight”, Strasburg said. I just threw a pitch to Posey there. Earlier in the week, he said it still bothered him three years after he allowed seven runs in five innings of a July 4 start here.
Brandon Crawford, Gregor Blanco and Brandon Belt had RBIs for San Francisco. Jarred awake, the big left-hander settled down and pitched effectively over the next four innings, giving up just an RBI double to Tyler Moore. Another two-base hit drove in two in the sixth. He reportedly dealt with a swollen left knee during the previous series against Miami.
Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper had doubled in the seventh inning against reliever Yusmeiro Petit to put runners on second and third with no outs for Wilson Ramos. When Strasburg returns, he will have to prove that he can pitch late into games on a consistent basis without sustaining any injuries because the Nationals have a viable replacement available in Roark, who started 31 games last season and finished with a 2.85 ERA. Washington lost 2-1 in 18 innings.

Toeing the rubber for the Nationals tonight will be Jordan Zimmerman, who is 6-5 with a 3.16 ERA in 16 starts this year, while at home he has gone 2-3 with a 2.39 ERA in 9 starts.
