A 48-year-old woman was found stabbed in the driveway of her borough home in what one resident described as a normally “quiet” neighborhood.

A former NYPD officer was in custody late Thursday after he allegedly threw himself in front of a subway train, following the stabbing death of his girlfriend in Midland Park, New Jersey.

A New Jersey prosecutor tells NJ.com (http://bit.ly/1W8j4M7 ) that Arthur Lomando suffered serious injuries and was taken to Harlem Hospital.

He then went to the 163rd Street/Amsterdam Avenue subway station in Washington Heights and jumped from the platform at about 4:30 p.m., sources said.

Lomando shattered the driver-side window of Bardzell’s black Volkswagen SUV and attacked her with “a very large machete-type of knife, striking her several times”, Molinelli told The Bergen Record.

Police identified Arthur J. Lomando of Centereach, Long Island as the suspect in the stabbing, Molinelli said.

A federal prosecutor in New York City says a recent appeals court ruling on insider trading has led him to ask that charges be dismissed against a former SAC Capital Advisors portfolio manager who was convicted at… But Bardzell filed for an order of protection October 5 from Lomando after several domestic violence incidents, Molinelli said at a press conference.

Earlier this month, Molinelli added, police mounted an intense manhunt for Lomando, losing him in a chase along railroad tracks in the area. The murder weapon was recovered from the auto.

The prosecutor said Bardzell was divorced from the father of her sons, Alex, 18, and Adam, 16.

Bardzell was a special-education teacher in the Teaneck school district and was previously married and is survived by two teenage sons, News 12 New Jersey reported.

Neighbors said police had been called to the home in the past month and that a police patrol was assigned to watch the residence, the report stated.
