NFL suspended Packers Delaware Datone Jones one week for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

Third year man J.C Tretter from Cornell was supposed to start last year at center but a preseason injury allowed Lindsey to play, and he isn’t about to give up his starting position.

Jones was the Packers’ number-one draft pick in 2013.

Jones registers 21 total tackles and 1.5 quarterback sacks in the 2014 season.

The last two cases in which a player was suspended for one game for violating the substance abuse program were marijuana-related. It says Jones is suspended without pay for the first game of the 2015 regular season. Jones will be eligible to return to the team’s active roster on September 14.

As noted by Wes Hodkiewicz of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, the Packers are still awaiting word on an expected punishment for defensive lineman Letroy Guion, which could leave them down two key players for the opener.
