Fantasy Football 2015: Week 7 Sleeper Picks

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan- He is the QB of an undefeated team but fantasy wise has been average at best, there are better options. He worked back in last week with 3 targets, is playing this week, is cheap, has a great matchup, and no one has him. There’s little doubt Brown is a major player in this offense, as he’s seen 28 balls thrown his way over the last three weeks.

Averaging 7 touches per game, Tavon definitely offers a rare combination of pass catching and rushing opportunity – and this Sunday vs a leaky Browns defense, he should go on a tear. The objective of this column is advice on players that might not be every week starters.

How can you use this information? Most everyone will have one or the other. They are obvious for a reason, and you’d be a fool not to take advantage of them. Look, not every chick is a 10, sometimes you gotta take a look in the mirror and go, “self, I am a 5…so how can I reasonably expect to pull a chick who’s an 8 to 10?” They’re due for one of those 20-point allowances in Week 7. It’s hard to believe either back will let us down. It’s a chore for sure since we haven’t even picked out a stack yet, and that’s supposed to be the first thing we do. There was hope he was back this week, but he didn’t practice Wednesday so he could be a week away. For example, if everyone has nearly the same players, then you having those same players will not differentiate your entry, even if those players do well. You could (and probably will) do a lot worse this week. Incredibly, Peterson is the contrarian alternative to Freeman at just 200 more.

Indianapolis Colts WR Donte Moncrief- He is a must start every week and looks to be Andrew Luck’s favorite target.

At running back, Latavius Murray has a really good matchup against the Chargers, Gore gets the Saints, and people are taking a flyer on all the Christine Michael chatter.

Todd Gurley is still extremely cheap and it won’t stay that way for very long.

The Peterson-Gore combo is only 100 less than the Freeman-Gurley combo – not enough to make an owner want to switch.

What made Matthew Stafford so dang good last week was not only because of a decent matchup but he had to throw because his run game had nothing going on and the opponent kept putting points on the board.

Which is why the best stack for my specific situation involves Palmer, who everyone will take a chance on. I won’t blame you if you play him in tournaments as well, and I’m sure I’ll have a few exposure, but given the sky-high level of ownership you can expect, fading him could pay off big-time if you do it in the game in which he comes back down to earth (and that game will come at a few point). The team is allowing 4.4 fewer points and 16.3 fewer passing yards per game than it did last season, so it’s trending in the right direction. He’s worth a spot start if you need one. They are going to be slinging it all over the place against a Raiders defense that stops the run but can’t stop the pass. Remember how bad Oakland is at stopping tight ends? It is imperative to pick two more with two-touchdown potential, and it’s all the better if they’re under-the-radar types. But other than that, my team was a complete flop. He’s averaged 23.7 DraftKings points over his last four games. Bortles has put up over 20 fantasy points in three straight games and I think he will again this week. Rivers should have a big day this week against the leaky Raiders secondary.

Keeping up with the contrarians, the Dolphins passing game should fare well against the Texans’ hobbled and underwhelming secondary. Interceptions have been a problem for Flacco this season, who had a pair last week as well. Jones performed better than Vick within a talented Steelers offense, one that got a boost with the return of wide receiver Martavis Bryant, and likely gets another shot with Vick sidelined by a hamstring injury. Matthews has the matchup and should have the targets. Well, sort of. I still didn’t win any money last week.

The Rams will be a popular choice coming off the bye against the Browns. Marcus Mariota won’t play, there isn’t a running back that should scare anyone (no, not even Dexter McCluster) and the Falcons actually match up fairly well with the Titans receivers.

Look, I get that there hasn’t been a more disappointing player over the past few years than Tavon Austin, aside from Cordarrelle Patterson maybe. Let’s try the same formula again this week and lock up Josh Lambo of the Chargers. I also had Lamar Miller, Delanie Walker, Emmanuel Sanders and Allen Robinson who all put up big games and lots of DraftKings points.

This will be the first week in a while where Gronk won’t be a trendy pick. He’s startable at this price even if Gates suits up. Might he slide down to 7,900 for next Thursday’s game against the Dolphins? Antonio Gates up against the Oakland Raiders. Tempted as I might be by Benjamin Watson since the Colts are down to backups at safety, the high-upside play is Jordan Reed. The full for scoring for Tight Ends is at the end of this column. I chose to just tack on the shame. And yet, that $6,000 price tag he has for Week 7?

Cardinals free safety Tyrann Mathieu is 2nd on the team in tackles and interceptions
