One person posted: “Sorry but you came across as shallow & patronising quite the opposite of this inspirational young lady” as another added: “Rarely has Malala, an absolute inspiration, been quite so patronised”.
Geri Horner – formerly Halliwell- was given the responsibility of interviewing Nobel Peace Prize victor Malala Yousafzai on The One Show this evening. “Is it just me, or was Geri Halliwell deeply patronising as an interviewer?”
Another also said: “Good lord”. It was cringeworthy viewing. “He allowed me to fly”, Malala told Geri. “Alex, Charlotte, Mallala and me”.
While Geri certainly gave it her best shot, her technique didn’t exactly go down well with viewers, who took to Twitter to slate her interviewing skills.
The then 15-year-old was singled out because she had dared to advocate education for girls.
Revealing that she had spoken to Malala’s father, Geri gushed “he’s very cool”.
To which Geri responded: “Wow sounds like you’ve got a great father”. I was like, “Wow that’s really cool!'”
