The update is said to contain fixes and user interface changes that were originally due to be put in to the final version of Windows 10 but were held back for whatever reason.

Microsoft has never said when to expect extension support for its Edge browser, but now we have a timeframe: 2016. For Joe Public the update will be labelled as “Windows 10 Fall Update” or “Windows 10 November 2015”. On the other hand, Microsoft has repeatedly stated that the support will be there and would arrive with an update “later this year”. Windows 10 is the major operating system revamp that Microsoft launched at the end of June to help it energize the notebook market and make serious inroads on the tablet and 2-in-1 market. Nadella told analysts Thursday that Bing’s advertising growth got a boost because Windows 10 lets PC users ask questions of Cortana, Microsoft’s voice-enabled digital assistant, which provides answers from Bing. Would you be a potential buyer of a new mid-range Lumia running Windows 10?
Last October 6, Microsoft introduced three of its newest smartphones – the Lumia 950, 950 XL and another entry-level gadget, the Lumia 550, which are reportedly set to be released in November to December time frame.
Win Beta’s Paul Thurrott – a trusted source – stated that the update would comprise various new features and amendments to the current OS. The upcoming Windows version is numbered as 1511, with “15” sending for the year 2015 and “11” for November, thus sparking reports of its imminent release over the next few weeks.
The update will be a cumulative one, meaning users will be able to upgrade to it regardless of how many previous updates they’ve elected to pass over. The new browser isn’t “quite as good or feature-complete as it should be”, noted The Verge.
Windows 10 “Threshold 2” is nearly ready.

Mr Thurrott highlights a series of changes coming to the mechanics of installing, activating and updating Windows. From this edition, if you have an unused Product Key for Windows 7 or Windows 8 it will allow you to install Windows 10 from a download as a clean installation.
