With China’s state visit to Buckingham Palace now considered a smashing success, readers worldwide were left intrigued at how Jackie Chan suddenly emerged in pictures with Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng alongside the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

At the conclusion of the State Visit, the Lord Chamberlain will bid farewell to President Xi and Madame Peng on behalf of The Queen as they depart from Manchester Airport.

The fashion conscious first lady appeared to have unsightly white powder on her forehead and nose.

But a few said silica powder may be the real culprit. Unfortunately, the powder is of such quality that if too much is applied, it can only be caught by the flashing camera.

Many were quick to blame it on over-zealous powdering by her make-up artist who was perhaps too eager to make Ms Peng look flawless at the high-profile event. So it was pretty much business as usual for the president’s wife this week. She has the boxy tote in common with Hollywood actress Kate Hudson, who owns the £550 bag in black.

And a “charcoal grey leather with gold-toned plates” handbag called “the Albion Square” – which No 10 kindly clarifies was for Madame Peng – from “emerging British designer” Sophie Hulme.
