Did Luke Skywalker Turn Evil for Star Wars: The Force Awakens?
J Abrams has in store for us when Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released on December 18th.

“As an actor that would be more fun to play”, he said. When Hamill brought up the idea of the Jedi Master as a villain the director’s face certainly lit up. Has he gone over to the dark side? Really, it should be a surprise that it took this long for the collective unconscious of the online world to dredge up documentation of Mark Hamill pitching the idea of a villainous Luke Skywalker to a table of creatives that includes The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams.
Whether a few of these speculations are true or not, there has got to be an explanation- and Esquire may have captured the best reasoning behind it. It can all be just Abrams’ way of defusing the hype and keeping a level of secrecy on what Luke’s role is going to be in this new-generation of Star Wars films. The only consolation knowing he is in the movie is seeing Mark Hamill’s name among the casts. As old as the actors are now, it’s doubtful Luke Skywalker will still be the nimble-footed hero he once was. When we finished two, I figured that’s what will be the pivotal moment.
“I should come back having trained somewhere with shaved widow’s peak, and a top knot, and like a braid”, Hamill added, but he said Lucas refused. And Star Wars basically broke the Internet, as fans stormed movie ticketing sites to purchase advance tickets. That his words “I will finish what you started” are actually in reference to turning his own father to the dark side where Anakin failed all those years ago?
Another scene shows masked and black-robed Kylo Ren has the villain’s melted helmet.
Hamill is known to be involved in the film, but his character has been conspicuously absent from promotional art and on-set photography. Could Luke Skywalker be the secret mentor behind Kylo Ren?
One more possible theory that’s been floated is that the plot of the movie involves a search for Luke Skywalker after he disappeared following the events in Return of the Jedi. “Or whatever the fuck it seems to be”.
