FILLMORE, Calif. (AP) – For one day only, a picturesque town about 60 miles north of Los Angeles was transformed into Hill Valley, the fictional hometown of Marty McFly from the “Back to the Future” franchise. Now, they’re a reality.Nike has finally manufactured a real pair of self-lacing shoes.

Nike will be auctioning off a limited amount of the sneakers for Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s research foundation.

However, Nike said that it is testing the self-lacing system “across multiple sports, incorporating feedback into future game-changing footwear with unprecedented performance features that have the potential to impact athletes around the world”.

“Although the project started as science fiction, we’re now proud to turn that fiction into fact”.

It appears that Nike is trying to capitalize on the sale of these Air Mag II’s by also putting them up for auction.

And in a fitting move, the very first pair of Nike Air Mags have been delivered to a delighted Mr Fox.

The fans say no matter the date, even when the future is in the past, these movies will remain popular.

Nike said this January that it hoped to release a version of McFly’s self-lacing sneaker by the end of 2015.
