Unbelievable Stories being revived at NBC with Hannibal boss
Taking its spirit from the pulp series of the same name from the 1920s-40s, fantastic Stories was executive produced by Steven Spielberg back when he was at the height of his wide-eyed cinematic powers. Instead, this reboot of the cult classic is being developed by Bryan Fuller, who just wrapped up as Hannibal show runner after three seasons.

However, according to Entertainment Weekly, NBC is developing a new version of the series with Hannibal executive producer Bryan Fuller at the helm.
The original series ran for two seasons in the ’80s.
Many of those directors hadn’t yet become icons when taking on an episode of the series, though they did have established careers at that point in the 80s. It also won five Emmys, mostly for the Spielberg-helmed, John Lithgow-starring WW2 episode “The Mission”. Given that Fuller has “American Gods” coming on Starz, we feel like this will likely be something that he can work on here and there, and then allow other people to take over for their own stories. FX’s 2014 smash hit Fargo and HBO’s True Detective both followed this format. Nevertheless, one of the great relics of the 1980s was unbelievable Stories. The CW was hoping to revive Tales from the Crypt in a similar fashion, but the reboot never got an official green light. United Kingdom techno-thriller Black Mirror is a key exception: last month, Netflix commissioned a full new season of the show. First, there’s the revisiting of older properties in an attempt to cash in on nostalgia and the audience’s fondness and longing for these familiar brands such as the recently announced MacGyver, The A-Team, and Fantasy Island. Though, without Steven Spielberg, will this even really be so incredible?
