Viewed by Millions, Carved by a Few

Viewed by millions of people already, this phenomenal snow show uses over 2 million pounds of ice in every exhibition; this means that the exhibit is recreated every time, giving it that fresh feeling and allowing the exhibit to never age or dull over time like permanent structures and exhibits tend to. All kinds of coloured ice are used to create this magnificent masterpiece ranging from clear ice to a variety of coloured ices, virtually every colour of the rainbow. Along with ice structures ranging from colourful houses to castles and archways to slides among many others, the exhibit is also home to animal carvings from horses to unicorns and pandas to dolphins to whales. The entire exhibition is hand carved by a team of about 40 talented artisans that work for around 28 consecutive days each time to recreate the spectacular ice exhibit.

The Perfect Venue

The perfect sized area to host this phenomenal snow show ranges between 10,000 to 20,000 square feet to accommodate the amount of food space needed for the attraction. On top of that, the area needs to be a minimum of 15 feet high as the ice structures within can be built up to an astounding 40 feet high. The show is versatile as it can be implemented anywhere thanks to the portable ice factory that is capable of creating all of the ice necessary for the exhibit; that is over 2 million pounds of ice being created for each exhibit. The entire display can also be housed in a multitude of ways.

An existing structure meeting the required space requirements can be used to house the large snow show. However, if one is not readily available, other venues may be used. Rented temporary structures, such as an insulated tent, may also be used assuming there is a wide enough space to host it. Another possibility is the construction of a custom built air dome. The only other requirement for the structures is that they require at least R25 insulation as the structures will need to be air conditioned in order to keep the entire exhibit at a cool -5 centigrade or 23 Fahrenheit. Any warmer and the exhibit would begin to melt before the artisans have a chance to finish sculpting. When kept at the perfect temperature, the exhibit runs typically for about a month and a half allowing visitors the chance to come and see the wonder of the snow show.

A family affair, a snow show of such proportions will and has brought in numerous guests to visit the beautifully and intricately created ice sculptures. They will wonder in awe of the detailing on each of the sculptures that have been hand carved specifically for that showing. Due to the chilling nature of the exhibit (-5 centigrade), guests are given Parka Jackets as they walk through the exhibit to experience the wonder of The Ice Kingdom. Along the way, they will experience the talent of the artisans in the form of multiple structures that have been hand carved to form homes, a castle, archways, and even slides for the guests to enjoy. The most prominent figure carved from the ice, the ice queen, stands watch over her icy kingdom while standing at a total of 6 feet tall making her a dominating figure indeed. As the art of ice carving has gained popularity over the years thanks to their majesty and extravagance due to limited lifespan, the interest in icy snow shows such as The Ice Kingdom only gain popularity over time; this makes the exhibit a great attraction.
