“We will not be able to deliver all of the orders coming from customers in the remainder of the year…”Lego spokesman Roar Trangbaek said”.

But the toymaker is now a victim of its own success and is struggling to cope with the surge in demand for its famous bricks.

Trangbaek said that the demand has exceeded the forecasts of Lego and its retail partners. Lego did not initially go into the specifics which countries and which Lego products will be in short supply.

“We don’t anticipate a problem in the American market”. Depending on the development of the company’s sales and future investments, as many as 1,600 new jobs may be available in Nyíregyháza by 2020, LEGO’s website added. The release of “The Lego Movie” as well as the launch of the pastel-colored Lego Friends line for girls has helped it win market share from USA rivals Mattel Inc. and Hasbro Inc.in recent years. Lego is not a public traded company and is owned by the founder’s family.

“The high demand also puts a strain on our factories around the world”, Lego CFO John Goodwin said in a statement.
