At Least ‘Back To The Future’ Got The Shoes Right

“The shoes will be auctioned off, and the beneficiary once again will be the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research”.

“The brand was challenged to imagine sneakers that would suit the inhabitants of the advanced era”.

Now in the real 2015, we may not have a hoverboard just yet, but today Nike is bringing one of the technologies shown off in the film into reality: self-lacing shoes.

“The future. I’ve got to check this out, Doc”, Marty said in the 1989 hit “Back to the Future Part II”.

However, Nike said that it is testing the self-lacing system “across multiple sports, incorporating feedback into future game-changing footwear with unprecedented performance features that have the potential to impact athletes around the world”.

If you want a pair of 2015 Nike Mag’s they might end up costing you. The pickup gets a black paint on and a dose of KC HiLite tires, just like the original vehicle that was driven by Michael J. Fox in the first movie.

“Although the project started as science fiction, we’re now proud to turn that fiction into fact”.

“As the first most celebrated wearer of the Nike Air MAG, we wanted you to be the first to receive a living pair”, stated shoe designer Tinker Hatfield in a handwritten letter sent to Fox and posted on Twitter.

The fans say no matter the date, even when the future is in the past, these movies will remain popular.

But the patent for the automated shoe was already in the works.

We may not have proper hoverboards yet, but another “Back to the Future” dream will soon come true – Nike is releasing self-lacing shoes. The shoes were auctioned on eBay, raising over $4.7 million (£3.1 million) for Fox’s foundation.
