Sunday Night Football Picks: New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts Start

New England did the same with left tackle Nate Solder (bicep). Luck has thrown six postseason interceptions at Gillette Stadium. The point spread is now favoring the Patriots at -8.5. Andre Johnson had a big game one week ago in his home town but I don’t think there’s any chance he could do that again against the Patriots. Playing on the road, crowd noise will be high, and the Patriots have to master the snap count. The rivalry started in the Manning era and has transitioned nearly seamlessly to the Andrew Luck era.

The addition of Dion Lewis has only made this Patriots running attack more risky and the lack of a secondary after free agency seems to be a distant memory with young players filling the void.

The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Indianapolis’s last 6 games at home.

Colts owner Jim Irsay said despite the uncertainty of Andrew Luck’s status for Sunday’s game against the Patriots, he expects #12 to suit up. But after the game, it was reported that the Colts had complained to NFL officials that the Patriots were playing with footballs that were inflated somewhat below the league-mandated minimum 12.5 pounds per square inch.

While neither team speaks much about the controversy, neither has forgotten it was the Colts who complained about the air inflation levels in last year’s American Conference final that led to the still-simmering “Deflategate” scandal that stole a few of the thunder from their 45-7 rout of the Colts and subsequent 28-24 Super Bowl victory over Seattle. “When they beat this team down Sunday – and they will beat this team down Sunday – it was with Hasselbeck”.

Regardless of who plays quarterback, the key question in this game will be whether the Colts defense can stop the Patriots. For the Colts, that would be wideout T.Y. While this should be a positive, the Colts have played better with back up Matt Hasselbeck under center. This is nothing new though, they have yet to take their foot off of the gas pedal, and will trounce this Indianapolis Colts team this Sunday.

In last week’s game, Indianapolis prevailed against the Texans 27-20. You can watch a live game stream here. In addition, the Patriots offense is firing on all cylinders and have gushed the Colts on the ground in each of the past four contests.

No added motivation needed for Tom Brady when facing Colts
