Terps Tied With Penn State After 1Q
In the third quarter, Godwin went deep, battled through tight coverage to make a bobbling catch and dragged Apple another 20 yards to cap a 56-yard play that set up the Nittany Lions’ lone touchdown two plays later.

Maryland Terrapins (2-4) are coming from a bye week after losing to the Buckeyes, 49-28, in Week 6. Hills also threw for 225 yards and a score.
Maryland went just one better than Penn State on third down converting 4-of-13 chances but missing out on both fourth down attempts.
A junior from Central Catholic, Hills is a skilled option quarterback who gave Ohio State fits two weeks ago. Oh well, at least they put on a show for a big crowd at M&T Bank Stadium and almost sent the Nittany Lions reeling for a second straight year.
Tomorrow, for the first time in 24 years, Penn State and Maryland will match up in Baltimore for a college football game and local Penn State fans are taking full advantage of the event.
241: Meanwhile, the Terps ran the ball at 5 yards a clip against the Lions’ defense, totaling 241 on the afternoon.
That isn’t Locksley. He praised Franklin – “From afar, I’ve seen how he’s matured and grown as a coach”, Locksley said – and promised that the Terps would participate in the pre-game handshake this time. But he also turned over the ball four times, with a fumble and three interceptions. The versatile DaeSean Hamilton worked out with Hackenberg and developed chemistry with the quarterback all summer, and Geno Lewis was back as the team’s top returning wideout.
On fourth-and-10 from the Penn State 45, Hills hit Levern Jacobs for a 7-yard gain. That gave Maryland the ball on the Penn State 31-yard line.
Said Locksley, “He made a few plays in the passing game, and he made a few plays with his feet. Whether it’s a 50-50 catch or not, it’s our ball, so we have to make whatever adjustment needs to be made to make the catch”.
“Whether it’s little things like playing music before the team meeting, all the things that this generation likes to do, we’re just trying to make sure it’s more of a mood than it is something that we’re doing on the field”, he said. Penn State responded with another 3-1 strike, featuring two kills from Washington to move the Nittany Lions ahead, 13-9. Penn State brought heavy pressure and Hills froze.
Hills wouldn’t let the Terps go down easily. “He’s a very talented player, and he’s the leader of our team”. Maryland only added a 29-yard field goal off the extra opportunity with under 11 minutes left in the game. Penn State completed just two passes beyond the line of scrimmage against Ohio State – both were to Godwin. “Rivalries are usually started with being competitive on the field”. Maryland would fall to 2-5 on the season with a brutal 31-30 loss in a game that featured FIVE turnovers on behalf of Perry Hills.

Hills will likely remain the quarterback of the near-future for Maryland because he did orchestrate 30 points against an elite defense, but the turnovers have to be addressed. Things might get ugly next week as Maryland will have to travel to #12 and undefeated Iowa. An utter disaster in every way possible, Locksley came up with one of the worst coaching eras in decades, going 2-26 at New Mexico with scandals, suspensions, arguments, a DWI, and lots and lots of losses.
