With QB Bortles ailing, Jaguars sign Tuel to practice squad

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston celebrates as he leaves the field following a 38-30 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars during an NFL football game Sunday, October 11, 2015, in Tampa, Fla. Winston has been sacked nine times.

The quarterback played through the injury.

“I wouldn’t be alarmed if he didn’t practice Wednesday”, Bradley said. Smith’s “we’re getting better” talk was beginning to sound more like a used vehicle salesman than a football coach.

Connor Barth made the most of his first game back with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after being re-signed with the team.

More importantly, Doug Martin is up for the Fedex Ground player of the week.

The Tampa Bay running back has forced himself back into the conversation. That’s the environment that we know that we’re in, the players know that we’re in that environment and the coaches. “You have to take note”.

“If you ask everybody coming into this game, everybody felt ready but maybe there is a difference between feeling ready and being prepared”. We’ve got enough good players in that locker room do better than what we’re doing on the field today.

“It doesn’t feel like the bottom, but it does feel like something is wrong”, said Bradley.

It was at this point the Tampa Bay crowd starting to get a bit antsy.

The Jaguars got a late score as Bortles connected with Robinson in the endzone with one minute to play, but the home team held out for the win.

LB John Lotulelei cleared waivers Monday (Oct. 12) and was placed on the Jaguars’ reserve/injured list.

Bradley knew exactly what happened: his team was outplayed again. T.J. Yeldon had just 32 yards in 11 carries.

The play was originally ruled a fumble but the call was reversed after replay. He has the ability to catch the ball, he can run the ball well and he’s a good blocker. And the Jaguars sacked him only twice. Winston never held the ball longer than 2.5 seconds before throwing so the Jaguars didn’t have much of a chance to put heat on him. Winston was 2-of-5 passing for 66 yards against pressure, 58 on the aforementioned screen pass.

Tight end Julius Thomas, who returned on Sunday from a hand injury, had no issues following the game.

Playing without middle linebacker Paul Posluszny, the Jaguars (1-4) gave up 183 yards rushing. Running the ball 40 times is usually a receipt for winning. Doug Martin led the way with 123 yards in 24 carries.

Miami hasn’t made the playoffs since 2008, and Tampa Bay and Jacksonville haven’t since 2007. Pierce may have been suffering the effects of a concussion.

“You say, ‘Hey Gus, you said this was built.’ It is built”.
