And with Gore and Johnson finally stepping up after initially failing to adjust to their new offenses and the Colts poor offensive line play, Luck still has weapons to challenge Brady and the Patriots.
This game is a match-up of last season’s AFC Championship game where the whole ridiculous Deflategate started as the Patriots crushed the Colts 45-7.
While the Colts want to avenge the championship loss, the New England Patriots are motivated to win big after quarterback Tom Brady was almost dropped into the fire thanks to an email sent to the National Football League by Colts general manager Ryan Grigson. The Colts have had this game circled as well, they feel playing in their own building that they can prove good enough to be one of the better teams in the AFC when they are healthy. Luck apparently could have played last Thursday if needed.
In the Deflategate controversy that involved the Patriots’ quarterback, one of the prominent figure to defend him was his father Tom Brady Sr, who speaks about the Colts-Patriots game on Sunday. Luck missed the last two games with an injured right shoulder and although he’s thrown more in practice this week than the previous two is still considered day to day. Head coach Chuck Pagano said, “when he’s ready, we’re going to put him out there”. Through five games, this isn’t a very good Colts team.
The New England Patriots are in Indianapolis this weekend for their long-awaited showdown with the Colts.
Other Patriots rivals like the Jets (Rex Ryan years), Dolphins and Bills have had years where they have been the Patriots primary rivals, but not consistently. But, of course, that would be going against “The Patriot Way”. It’s become something of an annual tradition for the Patriots to start looking at securing home field advantage by the midway point in the season, and this year that time frame could be up even further. Indianapolis will need to find a way to get pressure up the middle, where Tom Brady struggles with the pass rush.

After this impending beat down, the Patriots will predictably be crucified nationwide for “running up the score” on the other team. But whether he will be able to help Indianapolis stop this New England juggernaut is questionable.
